Sickie 1/21/16

Three days ago, Mia started coughing. It sounded like a mild cold. The day before yesterday her nose plugged, I could hear her stuffed sniffing. Then, yesterday the fever came. Those of you who have read my blog know that we have been struggling to get her recurring ear infections under control. I was worried that she had devloped another one.

Since her allergy test, we have been vaccuuming the house every day to clean the house of dog hair. I started breathing a sigh of relief about a week ago, thinking we had zerod in on the culprite. I thought we finally had the infections under control. So you can understand my disappointment to see her fall into another fever. The fact that she isn't speaking yet makes it more difficult because she can't tell me what hurts.

Her fever spiked to 103 last night. She crawled out of her room and lay in the hallway. I went over to her, she was babbling deliriously. This prompted me to take to the internet, I broke out in a cold sweat when I read that if your child has a fever of 103 accompanied by a cough and runny nose this could be a sign of H1N1 which could be deadly if not treated immmediately. I called our on call doctor and he assured me it was just the flu in the most smug and rude way he possibly could.

Mia fell asleep in my bed, she was snoring loudly so I moved her into her room. Taking her away made me feel guilty. As if I was sending her off on a journey she had to make on her own. When we woke up this morning, it was a relief to see her fever came down to 99. But my fears were confirmed that it was in fact another ear infection. Our doctor reffered us to an ear nose and throat specialist. Monday we will discuss Mia having tubes implanted in her ears.
