I'm sitting on a bench at the dining room table. Morgan, my Spanish tutor is in a chair at the head of the table. The last two months I have struggled my way through the past pretorite, imperfect and perfect tense. Today, Morgan brought some kids books written in Spanish for me to read during our lesson. "OK, first read it in Spanish and then translate it into English for me" he said.

I took a long breath and began reading. After I finished each paragraph in Spanish he made sure to have me repeat the words that I had shaky pronunciation on. I'm having a hard time putting the emphasis on the last O sound in the third person pretorite.

About halfway through the book I hear a loud banging on Mia's bedroom door. Her movie is over and she's letting me know shes bored. She lays on her back and pounds her heels into the wood, it sounds like a huge man is about to break in. "I better go check on her" I said. I went to put on another movie for her but rather than stay and watch it she follows me back downstairs.

"Honey, you can sit with us but just be sure to play with your toys" I said. I apologized for the delay and went back to my book. "Despues de un rato, Pooh llego a la casa don...." Mia starts tapping me on the shoulder. "Do you want a snack?" I grabbed her a pack of goldfish crackers and helped her back to the table with us. "Ok, sorry about that" I said. "Hola, Cangu-dijo Pooh-. Le llevo un regalo a Piglet, pero tome el camin...." "Ahhhhhhh" Mia said as she ran circles around the table.

"Mia, please!" I said, "mommy needs to study!" I went on to translate "After...a....while....Pooh...arrived...at...the...house"
I then realized the absurdity of the situation, I pleaded with Mia to let me study my third grade level competency Winnie the Pooh book. I shook my head amused and continued struggling to figure out what the meaning of the word vecino means with the help of Winnie the Pooh.
