Disney World 5/21/16

Hi my name is Jamie, I just celebrated my 32nd birthday, I am a mother of one, I like to think of myself as an adult but... I love Disney World. Now, before you get on your high horse about how over priced, over crowded, and over silly Disney theme parks are, let me just say I agree with you but... nevertheless...I love Disney World.

We had the opportunity to take Mia last week. We spent two days at Disney's Contemporary Resort. From the moment we checked in, I was chomping at the bit to get into the park. Sure I told everyone how excited I was for "Mia to see everything" but if I'm being honest, I love Disney World. We were fortunate enough to get to share the experience with CJ's sister and her family. Star (CJ's sister) made reservations for us at Cinderella's Palace for dinner. Mia didn't seem all that interested in the princesses that visited our table. Star's daughter Vespar and I seemed to get the biggest thrill out of it. I was amazed at their costumes and the blue contact lenses they wore to look just like the characters. I was also impressed with how they took everyting in stride. I saw multiple little boys grabbing a handful of butt cheek when posing for pictures. The princesses being consumate professionals never flinched.

The first ride we went on was the Haunted Mansion. We used one of our fast passes to skip the line. We were all herded into a tight little room, when they cut the lights and a blood curdling scream pierced through the crowd I wondered if I had made a terrible mistake by exposing Mia to this. She never cried, never flinched. The rest of the ride was surprisingly scary to me, the whole time I couldn't help but wonder if some of these images would form the adult she turns out to be. If she ends up painting her fingernails black and getting really into tattoos you all know what did it.

The rest of the evening we hit the Monsters Inc. laugh floor (eh) Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin (Mia was so excited when she saw the full size anamatronic Buzz she put her shirt over her eyes out of shyness) The teapots (I took a video, Mia made almost gagged once) and the flying Dumbo (she had a hard time waiting in line for that one, I think it was her favorite of the night). We finished the day with the Mainstreet Light Parade that had her eyes wide open with excitement and the 10:00 fireworks show.

The next morning we had breakfast a Chef Mickey's. An extremely overpriced breakfast buffet in which Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy and Pluto visit your tables while you eat. Mia was not thrilled when we pulled her out of her seat to pose with them but she loved the Chocolate Chip pancakes. I have to agree with her, the food tasted great. We had to put an abrupt end to breakfast to catch our first fast pass of the day at Splash Mountain. Please refer to the posted picture to see Mia's reaction to the big finale. We took the monorail to Epcot, which was cool but its the type of place I only need to see once.

The two days were great. It was awesome for me to get to see Mia enjoying the same type of things that other kids her age like. She had a big smile on her face and never cried on the roller coasters. I'm so grateful we got to have the experience and look forward to taking her back someday.
